While completing a Masters in Education at the University of Ottawa, Natalie had the privilege of working with the Developing a Global Perspective for Educators/Développement d’une perspective globale pour enseignants et enseignantes team, deepening her knowledge of, and commitment to social justice and sustainability. At the same time, she was impressed by the recurring theme of God’s heart for justice in reading through the minor prophets of the Old Testament and Christ’s teachings in the New Testament.
Natalie has pursued this calling through her teaching career in the Ottawa Carleton District School Board and volunteer opportunities at Ottawa Innercity Ministries, Rideauview Bible Chapel, and City on our Knees (Pray Ottawa). She envisions a church united in God’s call to love our neighbour, shining brightly with the gospel of reconciliation in Jesus Christ.
With utmost respect and appreciation for those directly serving the poor and marginalized, Natalie believes we have further opportunity and responsibility to engage at the systemic level to address the root causes and perpetuation of poverty. To this end, Natalie joined the CPJ team in October 2017 to transfer her skills in education, communication, and group facilitation to the sphere of policy analysis and advocacy.
