Save the date: John Olthuis in Kingston

John Olthuis is a Member of the Order of Canada, a CPJ co-founder, and a leading Indigenous rights lawyer in Canada. His new book, On Dismantling Settler Colonialism: An Insider’s Perspective on Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples (available for purchase through CPJ) is the inspiration for CPJ’s current Reconciliation campaign, From Land Acknowledgements to Action.

This September, John Olthuis is making several stops in Kingston, ON to discuss his work, including:

  • Sunday, Sept 27 at 10:00 a.m.: a joint service at Sydenham Street United Church, 82 Sydenham St. with participation from at least five Kingston congregations. John will preach at the service focused on how we can mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, 2026.
  • Sunday September 27 at 1:30 p.m.: a public lecture at The Spire, 82 Sydenham Street including a dialogue between John and Lindsay Borrows, inaugural holder of the Queen’s Law Professorship in Indigenous Law & Governance.

More information about how to attend these and other events will be announced in the future.
