Meet your speakers
Charles Wambui and Catherine Michael are members of The Rainbow Kings and Queens, a group established to provide social support, information, and opportunities for connection for LGBTQ refugees from Uganda and other African countries with hateful policies toward LGBTQ people.
Brenna Sobanski is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at McMaster University. She researches how refugee claimants are welcomed and find belonging. Her work is based on extensive involvement in communities of refugees and their supporters, whom she is grateful to have been welcomed by.
Archdeacon Bill Mous currently serves as the executive officer and secretary of synod for the Diocese of Niagara. He also oversees the diocese’s refugee sponsorship agreement with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Bill has more than two decades of experience championing refugee sponsorship initiatives and advocating for refugee rights in Canada.
Copies of A Renewed Canadian Welcome will be available for purchase at the event—but to get your hands on a copy before the event, buy your copy through CPJ and support our refugee and migrant rights work!
