2SLGBTQIA+ pride means freedom, visibility, and community all year round. Yet around the world, many 2SLGBTQIA+ people are still forced to flee violence, criminalization, and persecution simply because of who they are.
Rainbow Haven and Citizens for Public Justice will be at Capital Pride together at the Street Festival on Saturday, August 29th, and at the Street Festival and the Pride Parade Sunday, August 30th. We would love to have you join us! Our Street Festival booth will be on Bank Street between Laurier and Gloucester.
We believe everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to belong.
2SLGBTQIA+ people around the world are forced to flee violence, criminalization, and persecution simply because of who they are. And we often think of Canada as an automatic safe haven, but systemic gaps and our government’s policy decisions leave 2SLGBTQIA+ refugees feeling unsafe.
The great need for emergency shelter and support: In countries with dangerous policies 2SLGBTQIA+, asylum seekers need need food and shelter to begin their journey to safety.
The Threat of Deportation: Recent policy changes in Canada, like Bill C-12’s strict one-year filing limit, leave many 2SLGBTQIA+ claimants facing the threat of deportation.
The Housing Crisis: In Canada, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals are disproportionately impacted by inadequate housing and landlord discrimination, making up 14% of the population experiencing homelessness.

Your donation directly supports emergency safe houses for LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers through Rainbow Haven while advancing CPJ’s research and advocacy for policies that protect the rights, dignity, and safety of people seeking refuge in Canada.
A Safe Haven Today (Rainbow Haven)
Providing critical safety during transition. Rainbow Haven funds temporary shelter, food, and essential necessities for refugees and asylum seekers in countries of transition, protecting them during the most dangerous phase of their journey.
