The recent federal election shows that Canada needs a rejuvenated sense of community, and people of faith are called to be a positive influence in encouraging a society that strengthens community.
Canada is at a crossroads. After a divisive federal election, the climate crisis is one among many significant issues that need to be addressed. Our governments, at all levels, clearly have important roles to play. So too do we, as citizens and as people of faith.
The Dignity for All Campaign was joined by 17 MPs and Senators from all major parties at the launch of our National Anti- Poverty Plan on February 3. However, some provinces have been transferring detainees to other provinces rather than releasing them, and CBSA has not announced any alternative plan yet. CPJ has recently signed an open letter to Prime Minister Trudeau requesting for immigration detainees to be released and for investment in alternatives to detention.
